The largest number of Bulgarians who worked abroad receive unemployment benefits in our country in the Blagoevgrad region, according to data from the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Ivaylo Ivanov in response to a parliamentary question.

Out of a total of 13,910 such unemployed people, more than a third are in Blagoevgrad, or 4,258 people according to data as of April 20 this year, writes Pariteni.bg. The number of registered unemployed in the labor offices in Blagoevgrad is ten times greater than those in Varna and Burgas, for example, which are 402 and 440 people, respectively.

The next cities where there are many registered unemployed people who have returned from abroad are Pazardzhik – 1191 people and Targovishte – 769 people. For comparison, in Sofia, for example, only 225 people receive unemployment benefits after having worked abroad.

Only from the beginning of this year until April 19, 3,882 unemployed were registered on the stock exchange, with 923 in Blagoevgrad and 326 in Pazardzhik, according to the report of the Ministry of Social Affairs.

From the data of the NOI, it seems that last year Blagoevgrad and Targovishte were paid quite a lot of compensations according to European regulations, more than those in Sofia, with a population of two million, for example.
