RISV – Plovdiv and SNC “Green Balkans” released birds of protected species in the area of ​​the Wildlife Rescue Center in Stara Zagora, after the order of the District Court – Plovdiv came into force. This is reported by the regional inspection.

The wild birds were rescued during a police operation at the beginning of the year in Plovdiv by a joint team with representatives of the ecoinspection and the Sixth RU of the ODMVR – Plovdiv.

It has been established that a resident of the city kept the animals in his home. Cells with specimens of the species of stiltgrass, common sedge and birch scaly were found. The birds were handed over to the Rescue Center for Wild Animals in Stara Zagora for rearing and safekeeping as material evidence until the completion of the investigation. There they were grown under suitable conditions.

In the course of the court proceedings the accused pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of 24 copies from protected species of wild fauna. A fine of BGN 1,000 was imposed on him.

All forms of deliberate capture, possession, transfer, transportation, export abroad, trade or exchange of specimens of protected species taken from nature is a crime, the RISV – Plovdiv also reminds.
