Energy workers and miners from the country’s coal regions protested under the windows of the government today. The union organizations KNSB and KT “Podkrepa” also participated in the organization. The demands of the protesters are that the operation of the coal plants should continue even after the liberalization of the electricity market.
According to energy experts, due to the carbon emission quotas that the European Union imposes, the electricity produced by the thermal power plants is too expensive to sell on the exchange, which will lead to the closure of the plants for economic reasons.
