It was decided to form three working teams – “Marketing and Advertising”, “Infrastructure” and “Events and Tourism”, and one of them will include a health expert of the Municipality of Varna. The two sides in the meeting declared their readiness to send their representatives to the working groups in the coming days. It was also expressed a desire for the Tourism Advisory Council to meet once a month in order to monitor the progress of the work of the working groups.
At the moment, the main focus is the preparation of the city for the tourist season and a number of other activities related to the priorities of the Municipality of Varna for the next program period, the mayor informed the meeting. He emphasized that the infrastructure projects under the major national and European programs are continuing. The municipality is working hard to plan and schedule all repair and construction activities so as not to create difficulties for citizens and tourists during the summer season, emphasized Kotsev. According to him, two large projects for the repair and replacement of the water supply network – on “The Two Towers” and “Knyaz Boris I” Blvd. (in the part from “Trakata” to “St. St. Constantine and Elena”) have been stopped with the categorical opinion of the Municipality, despite the great desire of the Water and Sewerage Authority to start them in May.
The intensive preparation of the city in terms of road maintenance is also underway, and the majority of the budget for these activities will be invested in the next two months. This measure aims to rehabilitate the main road arteries, the approaches to the city and the roads to the tourist complexes, explained Kotsev. He assured the tourism industry that intensive landscaping, lawn mowing, tick spraying and urban maintenance activities are underway in the city. “We’re on schedule and at a good pace, so I think we’ll have a good-looking city in every way in June,” the mayor said.
