The mayor of Kyustendil, engineer Ognyan Atanasov, presented a medal to the legend Yordan Petrov.

At the beginning of today’s session, the mayor showed respect for Yordan Petrov from Kyustendil. He is the only Bulgarian awarded with the “Legends” award, which was established in 2023 by the International Federation of Air Sports.

The Federation itself was founded in 1904.

“Only 58 people in the world have been awarded three times as world champions. Apart from that, Yordan Petrov has been European champion many times, champion of Bulgaria, a person who gave a lot to the model rocket school at ODK – Kyustendil.

This is a man who is a living legend. Due to health reasons, he cannot be here today, but his son is here, and I think that we, as citizens of Kyustendil, should be proud of the achievements of such of our fellow citizens, who have been honored at the world level and are in the TOP 100″, he announced at the award ceremony the medal in model rocketry, the mayor of Kyustendil, engineer Ognyan Atanasov.
