Plamen Panov presented to media from the country the new mobile application “ArtiFact Plovdiv” on the Norwegian program

DC “Boris Hristov” in Plovdiv hosted a conference on the topic “Media and tourism”, organized by the Plovdiv associations of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists in partnership with the Municipality of Plovdiv. The forum was opened by the chairman of the SBZ Board Snezhana Todorova and the deputy mayor for “Culture, archeology and tourism” of the Municipality of Plovdiv Plamen Panov.

The Deputy Mayor presented information on the activities of the Plovdiv Municipality project No. BGCULTURE-1.001-0016 “The cultural heritage of Plovdiv, presented in revitalized, restored and renovated places”, under the Program “Cultural Entrepreneurship, Heritage and Cooperation” in the amount of BGN 804,616 , financed by the FM of the EEA 2014-2021. It includes 7 cultural institutions – City Art Gallery, Regional History Museum, Regional Archaeological Museum, Regional Ethnographic Museum, Regional Natural History Museum, Ivan Vazov National Library and OI “Ancient Plovdiv “. The implementation period is 22 months. The partner of Plovdiv municipality is Cross-Cultural Introduction AS (CC-Intro AS) from Norway.

The project includes improving the conditions and quality of presentation of the rich cultural heritage of Plovdiv Municipality through renovation and application of interactive methods in the 7 cultural institutions within the city. The implemented activities stimulate a wider interest in cultural heritage and include: renovation and revitalization of premises; purchase of showcases for the permanent exhibitions and equipment for interactive presentation of the exhibits; development of a mobile application – a type of quest game, including an audio guide, which presents the buildings, halls and part of the exhibits of the cultural institutes in an intriguing way for the visitors.

Deputy Mayor Plamen Panov told the media for the first time and days before the launch, details about the new mobile application “ArtiFact Plovdiv” (ART&FACT PLOVDIV), created under the project, which connects all cultural institutions in Plovdiv. It aims to attract more young people to visit the cultural institutes of Plovdiv, to arouse interest in the cultural heritage of the city among Bulgarian and foreign tourists, as well as to make the visitors’ experience inside the expositions more interesting and fascinating. Using a mobile application with augmented/augmented reality, the various target audiences, instead of just seeing information, will have the opportunity to interact with it – to hear an interesting story, look for “treasures”, learn more about Plovdiv, view exhibits in detail, to arrange a three-dimensional puzzle, have fun playing a game, as well as take a virtual part of Plovdiv home in their “digital” backpack, and finally win a prize.

Plamen Panov introduced the guests to up-to-date information on the policies of the Plovdiv Municipality, implemented through the Cultural Calendar, which covers numerous events of local, national and international significance, related to the preservation of cultural heritage and memory, enrichment of cultural identity, improvement of access to culture of residents of the municipality through decentralization of cultural processes, development of art, creative and cultural industries and cultural tourism, promotion of Plovdiv’s culture around the world.

After the pandemic restrictions due to the covid crisis of the last two years, 2023 showed that the tourism sector in Plovdiv has reached a full recovery from the crisis, with statistical data also showing growth in most economic indicators compared to the successful 2019, in which Plovdiv was European Cultural Capital. According to NSI data for 2023, the total number of overnight stays in accommodation for 2023 amounted to 661,967, and registered a growth of 28% compared to the previous year 2022, and 30% compared to the same period of 2019. According to this indicator, the increase for Bulgarian citizens is by 18% for 2023 compared to 2022, and by 38% compared to 2019. For foreign citizens, the overnight stays are 43% more compared to 2022, and exceed the levels of 2019 – 20% moreDeputy Mayor Plamen Panov noted.

With the “Media and Tourism” conference, the celebrations dedicated to two important anniversaries of the oldest and most authoritative professional creative and trade union organization – the 180th anniversary of the beginning of Bulgarian journalism and the 130th anniversary of the creation of the organized journalistic movement in the country – have started . More than 3,200 journalists are members of the Union. The conference was attended by members of the Board of Directors and the Central Committee, the chairmen of the Plovdiv companies, colleagues from the country and representatives of the media in the city.
