Montana Municipality is increasing the funds given to local families for a newborn child

--

Municipal councilors in Montana approved at their meeting today a proposal to increase the funds given to local families for a newborn child from May 1, 2024.
Instead of the previous 300 BGN for the first child, families with address registration in the municipality will now receive 400 BGN each. For a second child, the funds are increased from BGN 500 to BGN 600. After the amendment of the municipal ordinance, families with adopted children will be able to benefit from the assistance. Young people from the municipality who until recently were students, returned to Montana and have a child will also have the right to support. Until now, they were not entitled to receive money for a newborn child, because in the last three years their address registration was in other cities, where the universities where they studied are located. However, they will now be able to present notes from higher education institutions that they were full-time students and receive funds for a newborn child.
The municipal councilor and chairman of the budget committee in the Montana municipal council, Stanimir Stoev, said that the funds allocated in the municipality’s budget for this year will be enough to support families with newborn children, if their number is close to that of last year.
Councilors have rejected a proposal to give more money to families where the parents are university graduates, as it would be educational discrimination.
