A protest against parental alienation and shared parenting was organized in Dobrich

--

Protesters against parental alienation gathered in front of the Courthouse in Dobrich. They are united around the idea of shared parenting.
The organizer of the protest, Nikolay Lyakhov, told BTA that they want to criminalize the act of parental alienation and to have more adequate measures to combat it by the State Agency for Child Protection. “We also want the court to award shared parentage, regardless of whether the parents agree on it, because otherwise it is a prerequisite for extortion,” Lyakhov said. He added that with shared parenting, no monthly child support is paid. Protesters are also demanding more work by psychologists with children of separated parents.
Nedka Dimitrova, who is the grandmother of a 3-year-old child, also participated in the protest. She said she supported the requests, but also called for changes to children’s wishes – to be heard and their views taken into account. “The child wants to live with his father, but we only see him four times a month because the mother is not giving anymore,” she added. “A child needs a father just as it needs a mother,” concluded Nedka Dimitrova.
The protest in Dobrich is in support of the national campaign of the “For Shared Parenting” Foundation.
