PAZARDJIK. Were the mayors of localities elected with the “New Time” list forced to participate and lead people to a party meeting of “We continue the change” yesterday? Councilor Todor Popov asked this question to the mayor of the municipality at today’s meeting of the Pazardzhik Municipal Council, and in response the mayor of the municipality Petar Kulenski replied that there is no such thing. According to Popov, a week before the assembly, mayors of populated areas began to receive instructions for their presence “with 5 trusted people” from a municipal official. To their disagreement, Kulenski’s employee replied that “we won’t be able to do anything more for the village” or “you won’t get money for the council.” Petar Kulenski replied that Todor Popov can be calm because all the mayors have received the money for the councils and representative expenses, the construction programs are being implemented and they even receive more money. “No one was forced to attend or to tear their dress,” Kulenski said, adding that there certainly were no such initiatives. To which Popov replied that he was an “informed person” and added that in the next similar case he would personally refer the District Prosecutor’s Office. In turn, the mayor asked if this was a threat or a warning. “It is not a threat, but such a thing will not be allowed from now on,” replied Popov. “You mean to say that it was allowed until now, right?” the mayor returned the ball, and Popov clarified that it was allowed yesterday. He added that he would refer the competent authorities to investigate. “Mr. Popov tells Mr. Kulenski not to do what Mr. Popov used to do,” Councilor Trendafil Velichkov said in his turn when taking the floor and caused excitement in the hall. And then he invited everyone to the plenary hall of the council in Tsrancha on May 6 – St. George’s Day.
