Heavy rains flooded Central and Southern Bulgaria, with the strongest storms in Starozagorsko – Chirpan, Parvomai and Radnevo.

A yellow code for intense rainfall and thunderstorms has been announced for 12 regions of Western Bulgaria today, reminds NOVA.

Torrential rain also fell in Kazanlak. The rain lasted about 10 minutes. No hail has fallen in the area. The cleaned manholes and sediments in the city a week ago absorbed some of the water, but because of the heavy rain, the streets were overflowing with water to the sidewalks at times, eyewitnesses revealed.

Hail the size of a walnut has hit dozens of villages in the Staro Zagora region. This was reported by users on social networks, quoted by “Focus”.

The villages around the regional town and around Chirpan are the most affected. In addition to hail, there was heavy rain, storm and thunder in the area, adds the news agency.

Increases in some of the river levels are expected, announced by the Ministry of Environment and Water. It is about the watersheds of the rivers Ogosta, Iskar, Vit, Osam, Yantra, in the watersheds of the rivers north of the Kamchia River, including the upper parts of the Tundzha River watershed and the upper and middle parts of the Maritsa River watershed.

And what kind of weather awaits us in the coming days, this is what forecasters from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) predict:

On weekends in the country, the wind will be weak to moderate, at first from the east-southeast, and then from the east-northeast. Temperatures will rise slightly. On Saturday, April 27, cumulus and cumulus-rain clouds will develop over Western Bulgaria, and later over Central Bulgaria, and in some places it will rain and thunder. There will be scattered high clouds over Eastern Bulgaria, according to the weekly weather forecast in Bulgaria from April 27 to May 2, prepared by Marijana Popova – weather forecaster on duty at the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH).

On Sunday, April 28, there will be more cloud before midday over the eastern half of the country, in places with short-lived showers. Over the western part of will be mostly sunny.

On Monday, April 29, the wind from the northeast in Eastern Bulgaria will increase, there will be more significant increases in cloud cover, but the probability of precipitation is small. Sunny weather will prevail over Western Bulgaria. Temperatures will rise a little more.

On Tuesday, April 30, the weather will remain windy. In the eastern half of the country it will be cloudy, there will also be precipitation accompanied by thunder. In western areas there will be more hours of sunshine and the chance of brief afternoon showers is less. Morning temperatures will be higher and daytime temperatures will be lower.

On Wednesday, May 1, the wind will weaken, the precipitation will decrease, the clouds will break up and decrease by the evening.

On May 2, on Thursday, the atmosphere will become labile again, cumulus and cumulus-rain clouds will develop, and in places, more in Western Bulgaria, there will be short-term precipitation and thunder.
