Numerous inaccuracies in the indictment hindered the disciplinary hearing against Metin Mehmedov, who in the summer of 2023 caused a violent road accident on the Ustina – Krichim road, reported a reporter of Plovdiv24.bg.Mehmedov was charged that on August 2, 2023, while driving an Opel Astra car in the direction from the village of Ustina to the town of Krichim, he violated traffic rules and intentionally caused the death of Dimitar Pepelanov, which occurred on February 2. 2024

He is also on trial for causing the serious road accident under the influence of a narcotic substance – amphetamine.

Mehmedov committed the act again after he had already been convicted with an effective sentence for another similar crime.

At today’s hearing, it became clear that the state prosecution must correct facts regarding the speed of Mehmedov’s car. The impact between him and the deceased Pepelanov, the road characteristics of the section, as well as ambiguities from the auto technical examination.

Even upon entering the hall, Mehmedov did not hide his emotion and became upset. In a conversation with his lawyer, he expressed his willingness to plead guilty, under the pretext that “a lot of people blew his mind”. His defender Tarnovaliyski was puzzled by his desire. Only after the corrections to the indictment will it become clear how the trial will proceed.

The court returned the case to the prosecutor’s office. The decision of the Plovdiv District Court can be appealed within 7 days.
