Deputy Mayor Boryana Shalyavska and Deputy Mayor Stanislav Kimchev attended the solemn ceremony of the jubilee edition of the National Student Competition “For Our Bread…”.

For the 25th time, Blagoevgrad becomes a gathering center for over 1,000 children and youth from all over Bulgaria, united by native traditions and customs.

And this year, the celebration began with the consecration of the bread by His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim of Nevrokop and priests from the Church of the Introduction of the Virgin. Immediately after that, Deputy Mayor Boryana Shalyavska, Deputy Mayor Stanislav Kimchev and Bogdana Kostadinova, Director of the Center for Personal and Creative Development of Children of Blagoevgrad officially opened the National Holiday.

“It is my honor to congratulate you on behalf of the mayor of Blagoevgrad, Metodi Baikushev, and on my own behalf, on the occasion of the jubilee edition of the National School Day “For our Bread…”. Every year, the celebration dedicated to Earth Day is one of the most awaited events, because it gathers children from all over the country and directs their eyes to the symbol of life – Bread. The name of the competition “For our bread…” is not accidental, it creates the feeling of connectedness with past, present and future. For 25 years, the National Student Competition has become a kind of emblem of creative spirit and traditions. Boryana Shalyavska said in her greeting.

Mrs. Maya Damiankina, who is one of the founders of the “For our bread…” celebration in 1998, was also invited to the stage. On this occasion, the director of the Center for Personal and Creative Development of Children of Blagoevgrad presented her with an honorary plaque.

After a short musical program, the participants in the “Scientific Development” competition were awarded.

Every year, the scene of “For our bread…” attracts hundreds of children with the aim of presenting the Bulgarian traditions related to the production of bread and bakery products. All of them, through their talent, become part of the rich and varied program of the holiday.

For the first time this year, the event expands its horizons, including a bazaar of social enterprises from the South-West region, in which the “You are part of us” Foundation, SOS Children’s Villages, “Made with Love”, “Martenichki BG”, SSK will take part. Tornado” and the Concordia Foundation.

The contest continues in the next two days. The organizers have prepared master demonstrations on bread making and exhibitions of bakery products and “Mockets” works, students will present rituals, songs and dances related to Bulgarian traditions, and the celebration will end with awarding the winners in the other sections.

XXV National School Day “For our bread…” is organized with the cooperation of Blagoevgrad Municipality, Ministry of Education and Science, National Children’s Palace, RUO – Blagoevgrad and Center for Personal and Creative Development of Children of Blagoevgrad. For the first year, the initiative is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.
