Pazardzhik lost one of its most dedicated local historians and researchers of the history of the region – Alexander Arnaudov. He died today, and the bad news was announced by his son Hristo Arnaudov.

“Today, at the age of 90, our beloved father and relative Alexander Petrov Arnaudov left us, announced Hristo Arnaudov.

A true patriot and an encyclopedic personality, an honorary citizen of Pazardzhik, he ranks among the notable Pazardzhik as a historian, ethnographer, and publicist.

Rest in peace dad! May God forgive you and rest in peace!”.

Alexander Arnaudov is a historian, local historian, for many years he led the departments “Revival” and “Ethnography” in the Regional History Museum-Pazardzhik. Researcher of the past and cultural heritage of the Pazardzhik region, the Chepin region, local folklore, and the Cathedral Church of the Dormition of the Holy Virgin. He is one of the founders, and subsequently, one of the authors of “Encyclopedia Pazardzhik”. He is the author of studies on Konstantin Velichkov, Hadji Nayden Jovanovich, Nikifor Popkonstantinov, Todor Banchev and many others.

In the new edition of Dr. Konstantin Kantarev’s emblematic book for Pazardzhikians, “The Spring of a City. Pazardzhik Mosaic”, Alexander Arnaudov is the author of the index, the terminological dictionary of obsolete and dialect words, as well as the data on Dr. Kantarev’s family.

He was awarded the title “Honorary Citizen of Pazardzhik” on May 19, 2017 by decision of the Pazardzhik Municipal Council.
