The artist Stefan Penchev opened a solo exhibition with the idea of a festive mood this evening in Silistra.

The exhibition is in the Art Gallery and includes nearly 50 canvases with watercolor and acrylic paints, as well as several mixed media collages.

The paintings were painted in the last few years and are almost abstract, but understandable, said Stefan Penchev. He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists in Silistra, and was recently elected its chairman. He chose to show the watercolor technique.

“Oil paints, if you make a mistake, you can correct it with a thinner, or you can work directly on top. You cover up your mistake. While watercolor is capricious, the sheet can fall off. That’s why you have to apply the spots almost quickly.”

Works by Stefan Penchev are owned by the galleries in Silistra, Plovdiv, Vidin and by private collectors in our country, in Japan, Spain, France and Germany.
