It has become clear that the current regulations regarding the sanctioning of drivers of motor vehicles parking in green areas are yet to be analyzed. The idea is that violators will be fined, a sticker will be stuck on the cars, and the owners themselves will be able to pay the fines at a time convenient for them.
Within the framework of the meeting of the local parliament, it was understood that the two football teams in Kyustendil are on their way to unification. “I will be very proud if this happens within my term. The merger of the teams is a process that will last one or two years. I hope that from the autumn we will have one united team in which all the children will play. The money should go to one place and be spent on the development of the children, and the men’s team should go to Group B,” commented Mayor Atanasov.
The mayor also stated that a new concept for municipal housing is being prepared. The municipality is already making a strategy through which it will expand its housing fund for people in need. “When I took office as mayor of Kyustendil, on November 10, 2023, there were only 5 vacant homes. We managed to free 10 homes that were not used for their intended purpose,” said Ognyan Atanasov. The mayor pointed out that attractive properties have been sold so far for housing construction, and the money received was used for infrastructure. The strategy envisages the release of two municipal properties, but they will not be announced for sale, but the right to construction will be ceded against compensation. Thus, the Municipality will have a certain percentage of the future buildings.
Yordan Pavlov Petrov from Kyustendil is the only Bulgarian awarded with the “Legends” award, which was established in 2023 by the International Federation of Air Sports. The Federation itself was founded in 1904, has more than 1 century of history. “Only 58 people in the world have been awarded three times as world champions. Apart from that, Yordan Petrov has been European champion many times, champion of Bulgaria, a person who gave a lot to the model rocket school at ODK – Kyustendil. This is a man who is a living legend. Due to health reasons, he cannot be here today, but his son is here, and I think that we, as citizens of Kyustendil, should be proud of the achievements of such of our fellow citizens, who have been honored at the world level and are in the TOP 100”, he announced at the award ceremony of the medal, the mayor of Kyustendil, engineer Ognyan Atanasov.
