A solo exhibition of the Silistra artist Stefan Penchev was opened today in the local Art Gallery. The exposition contains 47 canvases – watercolors, acrylics and collages, painted in the last few years.
“The idea is for the exhibition to create a pre-holiday mood. Bright colors prevail. The exhibited works are almost abstract, but at the same time comprehensible. There are landscapes, portraits, still lifes. Watercolor is a difficult technique, mastery is required,” the author told BTA.
Stefan Penchev was born in 1957 in Silistra. He graduated from the National School of Plastic Arts and Design “Acad. Dechko Uzunov” in Kazanlak. In the period from 1982 to 1990, he was a teacher at the Secondary Special Art School for stage crews in Plovdiv. In 1991, he returned to his hometown and became a member of the Society of the Union of Bulgarian Artists in Silistra, and was recently elected its chairman.
He participated in dozens of national and international exhibitions. His works are owned by the galleries in Silistra, Vidin and Plovdiv and by private collectors from Bulgaria, Japan, Spain, France, Germany.
