The naming of a street in the “Smirnenski IV” district in the “Zapaden” district of Plovdiv raised the curtain on serious problems for the municipal administration. It turns out that this cannot be done at the current stage, since the procedure for determining street regulation has not been passed and a name cannot be given to a street whose status is unclear. There are identical cases in all new neighborhoods in Plovdiv, reports Plovdiv24.bg.

The former mayor of the “Zapaden” region, Dimitar Kolev, who is now a municipal councilor from GERB, recalled that an opinion was requested from the municipality as to whether the street in question was really a street, but it was not received.

“There are two municipal properties there, the others are private. One is a street, the other a forest road. Let’s not issue a birth certificate for the unborn Petko. A decision like this can lead to a number of events and name every transport access. In months and every Plovdiv resident, when he goes out with his child and stumbles on a stone, will ask where the street is,” he warned and distanced himself from the proposal.

Kolev raised the problem of the formation of new residential areas with large complexes, but the municipality cannot afford to build streets. According to him, it is good for the Ministry of Education and Culture to initiate the state to create a fund or program, according to which 10-15 million BGN is targeted for Plovdiv only for expropriation, implementation of regulations and projects for the new neighborhoods, so that they become part of the normal urban environment.

He justified his proposal with the fact that the municipality, with its revenues and constantly growing needs, cannot alienate. As a problem, Kolev also pointed out that all transport accesses are either on the earth mass or on the inert materials, as a result of which all the mud is then carried and goes out on the streets of Plovdiv.

Kalin Milchev recalled that the “BSP for Bulgaria” group had a proposal in the city budget to provide a certain amount for expropriation in order to solve the problem with street regulations.

The mayor of “Zapaden” Toni Stoycheva announced that the street from the “Proslav” district to the new Lidl on “Peshtersko Shosse” is provided for in the General traffic plan for a class 4 road, and according to the regulatory plan, it should have a larger gauge.

The proposal to name the street is supported by the signatures of over 200 people living in the area.

“There is no obstacle to naming and people having a normal administrative address. Now they cannot call a taxi, an ambulance, they have problems with address registration, the builders have written other names in the notarial deeds. As a district mayor, I undertake to prepare a project, so one day this street will get a normal look” – said Stoycheva.

Otherwise, the municipal councilors from all groups declared themselves “in principle” for the proposal to name the street after Dr. Hristo Adzharov, because of his merits. The proposal of the mayor of “Zapaden” will be submitted for a new discussion at one of the next sessions, after the opinion of the city administration on whether the road in question is agricultural or some other is discussed in the permanent commissions of the OB.
