The writer Zahari Karabashliev visited Haskovo as part of the “South Spring” literary days at the renovated Kirkovo school.
The titular author presented his novel to the local audience “Rana”.
This is a conversation about memory, Georgi Stankov, who introduced the author and his book, said before the floor was given to Karabashliev.
At the opening of the renewed cultural-historical space dedicated to the Haskovo revivalists, the historian Dr. Veselin Uzunova from the Regional History Museum told the story, which she added with her new discoveries, of the Kirk School. The house was built in 1882. It was the home of literature and ancient Bulgarian literary traditions. Its owner donates it to the local municipality.
At the event this evening, her colleague from the Museum, Milen Valchev, also introduced one of the guests-researcher of Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov – the master pharmacist from Plovdiv, Christian Kovachev. He surprised the attendees with the gift he brought for the exhibition at Kirkovo school, part of which is also dedicated to the famous chemist-organic and biochemist from Haskovo. He found out about the restoration of the Kirk School and about the fact that it has a dedicated Zlatarov corner, he contacted the RIM and this evening donated for the exhibition a volume of the emblematic work of the professor of bromatology (nutrition science) from 1933, with an autograph of the author.
The Kirk School is a cultural monument of national importance. The Renaissance House reopened its doors after a decade, after its complete renovation under the Revita project, supported by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area.
