Large hail fell in our country (Photos, video)

The sky turned black, and there was a downpour of ice grains the size of beans

Heavy hail fell over the May Day villages of Gradina, Karadzhalovo and Krushevo, and also hit the villages of Zetivovo, Samuilovo and Gita in Chirpa, reported readers of “24 Chasa”.

There were also hailstorms in Starozagorsko and Slivensko.

“Around 3 p.m. the sky darkened, a strong wind blew, heavy rain fell and hail began to fall,” said Zlatka Ivanova from the village of Gradina. According to her, the ice pieces were the size of beans. Everything turned white.

It rained for 12-13 minutes. About 20 rockets were fired from the missile site to break up the hail cloud and this may have prevented more damage.

“Tomorrow when we go to the field we will see what the defeats are,” said Zlatka.

According to the mayor of Parvomai Nikolay Mitkov, the hailstorm was strongest in the village of Karadzhalovo, where there are affected areas with sunflowers and early vegetable crops. “There is damage, but thank God the plantations are not completely destroyed,” he said. Mitkov added that, in addition to Gradina, hail also fell in the village of Krushevo. On May Day itself, hail also fell, but it was fine.

Yards in the Chirpan villages of Zetivovo, Samuilovo and Gita have also turned white. In places there, the ice pieces are the size of a walnut. People complain that their crops are affected.

Over 600 rockets were launched in 4 hours, from 1:19 p.m., from the sites of the Executive Agency “Fighting Hail”.

More than 20 hail risk cells were processed by the Regional directorates for hail in Taža, Stara Zagora, Popovitsa, Haskovo and Sliven.

One of the cells passing over a protected territory is a supercell, which is affected by 3 regional directorates – Popovitsa, Petrovo and Staro selo.

This type of process is characterized by the continuous renewal of cloud power, and it is impossible to completely prevent hail, but only to reduce its size, IABG reported.

And in the following hours, the processing continues in order to break the clouds and protect the crops.
