Burgas celebrated 62 years since the birth of Petya Dubarova

--

The 62nd anniversary of the poet’s birth was celebrated with a recital of Petya Dubarova’s poems in front of her monument in the Sea Garden of Burgas. On this day, traditionally students from the two Burgas schools – SU “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” and the English language high school “Geo Milev”, where the sunny girl of the seaside town studied, present their “Flowers for Petya”.

The celebration of Petya Dubarova’s birthday every year becomes a celebration of poetry and youth. The teacher from SU “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” Vesela Mileva shared:

“We are also a humanitarian school, at least that’s how our fame is spread in the city, we honor poetry and every year fourth-graders express their respect with poems. We also have competitions that we announce among older students,” said Mileva.

Burgas artists also paid their respects to the 17 poets who remained forever. The chairman of the writer’s community in the city, Nikolay Fenerski:

“It’s kind of a personal experience for me, because I grew up with these poems. Yes, it’s a shame that she’s not here with us, but her poems are here, they’re immortal,” said Fenerski.

On the birthday of the beloved poet, the house-museum bearing her name announced an Open Day.

A large part of the cultural program of Burgas, dedicated to Petya’s birthday, is the national youth literary competition “Petya Dubarova”. This year, the prize-giving ceremony will take place on May 10 (Friday), in the “Sea Casino” CC. The final part of the competition is one of the long-awaited events for Bulgarian artists from 14 to 19 years of age.
