In the past year 2023, Bulgaria reported an increase in the number of places in nurseries, reaching a total of 33,378 places in 835 independent crèches and crèche groups, included in the composition of kindergartens. This represents an increase of 185 places /0.6%/ compared to the previous year. The distribution of places shows a significant difference between urban /31,141 places in 726 crèches/ and rural areas /2,237 places in 109 crèches/.

Highest insurance rate with places in nurseries is observed in the regions of Pleven /26.5%/, Blagoevgrad /25.4%/ and Gabrovo /24.3%/, with a total national coverage of 19.5%. These numbers highlight the sustainable development and improvement of the infrastructure for raising the smallest.

Towards the end of 2023, in the nursery raise 30,586 children, with a slight increase of 42 children /0.1%/ compared to the previous year. The age structure remains almost unchanged, with the dominant age group being two-year-olds, representing 81.1% of all graduates, while children under one year of age form only 0.04% of the total.

An important role in maintaining the quality of childcare facilities performed by 7,970 specialists, including 3,607 medical specialists, 92% of whom are nurses. Their work is critical to the health and well-being of children.

Thus, the year 2023 is distinguished by steady progress in the field of nurseries, as work continues to improve conditions and the quality of the services offered In the whole country.
