As general practitioners, we have no worries about the situation surrounding the spread of whooping cough. The offices are working and the doctors are giving vaccines according to the schedule. This was commented on Radio Stara Zagora by Dr. Slavi Slavov, chairman of the Staro Zagora Association of General Practitioners, and specified that whooping cough cannot always be recognized, as it often occurs with mild symptoms in vaccinated individuals.

He himself is adamant that in his 30 years of practice he has never had a case of whooping cough. The prognosis of Dr. Slavov is pleased that the spread of whooping cough will be controlled, but it is important that vaccines are administered.

“It is also important for parents and doctors to follow the immunization calendar. It is not a problem to have a delay in administering a vaccine to children, if not set at 6, may be set at 7 years, explained Dr. Slavov.

At the moment, there is no interest in pregnant women getting a vaccine against the infection, said Dr. Slavov.
