16 different criminal acts were revealed in the course of an investigation carried out on 25.04.2024 on the territory,
served by the regional directorate, a specialized operation aimed at countering conventional crime, guaranteeing good public order and ensuring police presence in vulnerable settlements in the region.
During the operation, 4 pre-trial and 5 rapid police proceedings were initiated. In addition to the teams of the regional directorate and the regional administrations, 3 teams of the General Directorate “Gendarmerie, Special Operations and Combating Terrorism” – Ministry of Internal Affairs participated in the preventive action.
In the course of it, 432 motor vehicles, 607 citizens, 32 drinking and entertainment establishments, 5 car morgues and car repair shops, 10 pawnshops and 5 points for buying ferrous and non-ferrous metals were checked. For the violations detected during the action, the competent authorities have drawn up 63 acts for establishing an administrative violation and finding protocols, as well as 15 warning protocols under the Law on the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Established more typical criminal acts:
• In the town of Targovishte, during a police check of a 31-year-old man from the same town, it was found that he was in possession of a dry green grassy mass, which, in a field drug test, reacted to the narcotic substance marijuana. The narcotic substance was duly seized. The man was detained in RU-Targovishte on the basis of Art. 72, para. 1, item 1 of the Law on the Interior. The same is known to the police with his previous actions related to the possession of narcotic substances. In the case, a rapid police procedure was initiated under Art. 354a, para. 3 of the Criminal Code.
• During the action, the perpetrators of several thefts in the territory of the district were identified – a 67-year-old man from the village of Ruets, who stole a woman’s purse with personal documents and the sum of BGN 105; A 24-year-old man from the village of Draganovets, Targovishte municipality, committed theft of parts and belongings from a Volkswagen Golf passenger car – owned by a man from the town of Targovishte; A 45-year-old man from the village of Lomtsi, municipality of Popovo, committed theft of food products and cosmetics from a shop in the town of Popovo; A 35-year-old man from the village of Lomtsi – the perpetrator of the theft of a refrigerator and furniture from a house in the same village – owned by a Belgian citizen; and a minor from the town of Kotel, who committed thefts in the amount of BGN 170, after breaking the glass of a kiosk in the town of Targovishte with a hard object, and of vegetables from a stall at the cooperative market in the same town. The two men from the village of Lomtsi are known to the police for having committed previous thefts.
• The perpetrator of the illegal confiscation of a motor vehicle has been identified. On 25.04.2024, the ODMVR-Targovishte received a report about the illegal confiscation of a Mitsubishi Colt car with Plovdiv registration, owned by a woman from the village of Trud, region Plovdiv. As a result of immediate search actions, the perpetrator of the act – a 50-year-old man from the village of Piperkov chiflik, Kyustendil municipality, was located in the town of Sevlievo, driving the vehicle in question. In the case, pre-trial proceedings were initiated under Art. 346, para. 1 of the Criminal Code.
• In the course of the action, the perpetrators of two damages committed this month were also identified: a 55-year-old man from the village of Kralevo, Targovishte municipality, who damaged a double-glazed window on the front door of a grocery store in the same village with a hard object: and 40 -year-old man from the village of Bojurka, municipality of Targovishte, who, by using a sharp object, damaged two tires of a car “Fiat Punto”, used by a man from the village of Presviter Kozma, municipality of Omurtag.
• During the inspections carried out by them, the control authorities also found 4 cases of driving a motor vehicle that was not properly registered – in the village of Gerchinovo, municipality of Popovo; on road III-202, km 31+154 in the same municipality; and on a municipal road about 500 m from the exit of Vodica village in Popovo municipality. In all four cases, the drivers were disqualified. Rapid police proceedings were instituted under Art. 345, para. 2 of the Criminal Code
