30% of workers in the Dobrich region are on the minimum wage of BGN 933. 30% also receive an average gross salary, which at the end of 2023 for our region is BGN 1,534. With deductions, this means well below the amount needed to support one working person. Borislav Borisov – an expert at KNSB-Dobrich, said this in the studio of the “Dobrudzha” media group. He recalled the results of the Institute for Social and Trade Union Research and Training at the National Central Bank of Ukraine, from the traditional monitoring of consumer prices and the living wage for the first quarter of 2024, which were released a few days ago.

BGN 1,453 is needed for living expenses for a working person living alone, and for a three-member family (two working adults and one child under 14) the net amount needed is BGN 2,616. Income is growing by 1.1% on a quarterly basis and by 4.3% on an annual basis. The bottom line is that prices have generally calmed down, so has inflation. In the end, the increase for living expenses is good, but the intensity is not enough, commented Borislav Borisov.
The goal of the Central Bank for this year is for income growth to outpace inflation and the growth of the consumer price index. The union’s forecast is that this year the income increase will be between 15 and 25%, said Borisov.

Borisov announced that the price of the small consumer basket has increased by 4.2% in a year. He specified that there is an increase in some of the products in it, the biggest being meat and local products. A decrease in the last year was reported for oil.
About BGN 113 is the weight of the products in it, which means that 8 consumer baskets can be bought with one minimum wage, Borisov also pointed out. In Romania, it can be purchased 15 times a month with a minimum wage, and in France – 33 times.

In the district, unemployment is 5.7% and it is at the sanitary minimum, and for the city of Dobrich it is even lower – 3.3%. According to information from the Labor Bureau, as of March 31, we have about 1,800 vacancies in Dobrich. They are mostly in catering, trade and processing industry. Employers are increasingly demanding qualified personnel with digital competences, Borisov pointed out.
According to him, the priority of the management of Dobrich should be the opening of an Industrial Park, which would attract more investors.

On the eve of May 1 – Labor Day, KNSB – Dobrich will organize an outside reception in front of the building in which it is located on Nezavisimost Street. National and regional materials have been prepared.

According to last year’s data, there are 186 trade union organizations with 6,800 members in the KNSB district. Last year, 4 new organizations were established in the city of Dobrich, this year another one in Dobrich. We are trying to expand our activities in the real sector as well, the trade unionist added.
