A regional conference dedicated to library local knowledge was held in Silistra

Today in the Regional Library “Partenii Pavlovich” in Silistra, the Regional Conference “Library local knowledge – the sustainable memory of the native region” was held. Importance of local history activity for the local community”.
The conference finalized the activities of the project “Library local knowledge – historical memory of the native region”, financed by the Ministry of Culture. At the event, nine reports, presentations and short video films were presented, telling about good local lore library practices of the community centers from the Silistra Region.
“We emphasized on library local knowledge, because it is an important moment in preserving the distinctive culture of each region. It is part of the spiritual culture and teaches people not only to love their homeland, but also to know about it. There are deep traditions in Silistra regional lore, but even today librarians hold many interesting events that promote and preserve the culture of the native places,” Galina Raeva, director of the Regional Library in Silistra, told BTA.
Within the framework of the project, a reference book “Streets of Silistra, Tutrakan and Dulovo – thousand-year history and patriotic symbolism” was produced and published. It includes information on street names in the three largest cities in the district. He is also preparing a photo album dedicated to the history of Silistra. It will contain 160 photographs, and the publication will also be available online.
