“Green zone” for paid parking in the wide center of Montana was approved by the municipal councilors in the city

--

Municipal councilors in Montana approved with a majority a proposal of the mayor Zlatko Zhivkov to create a “green zone” for paid parking in the broad center of the city.
The new paid zone includes eight separate parking lots, where a car will cost BGN 1 per hour. The zone will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. The expected income from the “green zone” is BGN 191,000 per year.
The mayor of Montana, Zlatko Zhivkov, stated that the new paid zone is being set aside in order to bring order to the parking of cars in the city center, for which he received many recommendations from citizens of the regional city. Zhivkov stated that there are already 80,000 cars in Montana and, according to him, not everyone can drive their car downtown at any time without paying anything.
The municipal councilors from “Vazrazhdane” voted against the decision on the “green zone”, who believe that the new zone will not make parking easier, but on the contrary – it will become more difficult, as people will look for a place for their car in the small streets and around the downtown blocks. According to them, 2 BGN per hour for “blue zone” and 1 BGN per hour for “green zone” is too much for local people.
