From the Municipality of Stara Zagora, we urgently inform all children’s facilities – nurseries, kindergartens and schools, as well as all health professionals about the measures required by the RZI in connection with the registered cases of whooping cough. TThis was announced today by the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Stara Zagora, Pavlina Delcheva, with the department “Municipal property, health care and social activities”.

Health professionals must check all immunizations and reimmunizations of all children in children’s and educational institutions on the territory of the municipality. The deadline for this is May 10, 2024.

Unimmunized children will be soughtincluding with the help of Roma mediators where necessary, although the problem with anti-vaxxer actions certainly does not concern only children of minority origin.

The fears that we have had for years, that parents refuse to immunize their children and this could lead to a serious problem, we are already seeing come true”, noted Pavlina Delcheva. The deputy mayor made an appeal to parents to show conscience and cooperate, and the directors of children’s and educational institutions to also approach the problem responsibly.

So far, in the Stara Zagora region, there have been 3 registered cases of whooping cough since the beginning of 2024. – 8 years old, 18 years old and a 1-month-old baby, they are from Stara Zagora and Kazanlak, and for both students there is data on immunization.
