Whooping cough vaccines have nothing to do with flu shots, citizens cannot get them if they wish.

Lyubima Burgazlieva from the Burgas Regional College of Pharmacy emphasized that the vaccines that are given according to the children’s immunization calendar are free of charge and are obtained from private doctors.

“They are specific and only for children. They were never available in pharmacies, because they are obtained from private doctors, where immunizations are also done, according to the health calendar for children. Vaccines for example for 12-year-olds, which are boosters, are not intended for adults. They are even dangerous. Those that are suitable for adults – there will be imports, but they are by prescription.

Unfortunately, there is always panic in these circumstances, but people need to be clear that this is not like the flu shot.

Most likely, rabies vaccines will be delivered in the coming days. I cannot say what the quantities will be. But I emphasize again that they are only by prescription.

I recommend everyone who is worried for one reason or another to consult their personal doctor, because vaccines cannot be given indiscriminately”.

Vaccinations for pregnant women can be administered at the Regional Health Inspectorate or from the GP, but individuals must purchase them from the pharmacy. There are vaccines available for children up to 16 years of age with a delayed or missed vaccine, the inspection specifies.
