The Parliament passed the first reading of the bill for the ratification of the international agreement (LOA) BU-D-SAB “F-16 Block 70 aircraft and related support”.

The contract reflects minimal changes in the deal for the first F-16 Block 70, which our country expects to receive in 2025. It increases the value of the initial contract from 2019, but does not require additional contributions to the already paid advance amount.

The contract is intended to adjust the timelines for relevant components and/or product confirmations of related explanatory notes arising from contracts awarded by the US Air Force to relevant suppliers. In addition, various lines of the contract are being reduced in order to ensure adequate funding of activities, as well as to redirect to newly created lines, as well as changes in suppliers of defense products and services.

Part of the lines of financing under the original contract are terminated, and eleven new ones are opened, financed at the expense of the funds already pledged or through the redirection of such funds.

The contract was signed by Minister Todor Tagarev on January 31, 2024 in Ohio, USA. It contains “controlled unclassified information” and for this reason will not be published in the “State Gazette”.
