The blue and green zones can be extended until Sunday inclusive

Introduction of a red zone in Sofia, where only residents living in the area will be able to park. As well as extending the working hours of the blue and green zone until Sunday inclusive. These are just some of the ideas of the team of the capital mayor Vasil Terziev for changes in the traffic in the city.

The mayor’s administration is also planning the construction of new buffer parking lots, as well as a bicycle lane and a bus lane on “Patriarch Euthymius” Boulevard. The changes along one of the largest road arteries in Sofia will be ready within a month, the municipality claims.

Municipal councilors propose that the capital municipality acquire roads to Vitosha from the state

“The boulevard is currently used only by cars – for active movement, for parking, for staying just a little. This hinders public transport a lot”, said the Deputy Mayor for Transport of Sofia, Iliyan Pavlov. “Actually, along “Patriarch Euthymius” boulevard from the intersection to “Vitosha” boulevard, parking will only be parallel, which will lead to the loss of some parking spaces. But this way it will be possible to separate the bike lane and the bus lane”, explained the municipal councilor from PP-DB-SS Dimitar Petrov. “Additional new places will be allocated on Vitosha Boulevard, which will be accessible from both sides. The idea of a red zone accessible only to those living in the area must be developed rapidly. The rest will be able to park in existing and new underground parking lots,” said the mayor of the “Sredets” district, Traicho Traikov.
