Atanas Zafirov is the leader of the leftist list for Haskovo for the upcoming elections on June 9.

The name of the deputy chairman for the coalition policy of the BSP was among those announced today by the National Council of the party.

Zafirov enters the battle for a representative of the 29th MIR-Haskovo for the second time as a leader. In the 49th National Assembly, he was elected from two regions and decided to vacate the Haskovo seat in the national parliament for Smilyana Nitova, who was second in the list at the time.

Atanas Zafirov was born in Burgas. He is a graduate of VTU “St. Cyril and Methodius” with Bulgarian language and history, later graduated in finance at the same university. He has specializations in political science and political management at the NBU, the Bulgarian School of Politics and the Moscow School of Political Studies.

The list for the European Parliament of the Socialists will be led by Christian Vigenin. He was followed by Rumen Gechev, Tsvetelina Penkova, Vyara Emilova, Filip Popov, Alexander Simov and Gergana Alexova. Women across the list represent 40% of all MEP candidates.
