Customs officers from TD Mitnitsa Ruse seized 80,910 pieces (4,044 boxes) of cigarettes with a Bulgarian banderol, transported in violation of ZADS, and cut tobacco without excise documents in several cases during the past week.
In the late afternoon of 26/08/2022, customs officials stopped for inspection in the area of Danube Bridge 2 Vidin – Calafat a cargo vehicle traveling to Western Europe. When scanning the cargo composition, areas with questionable density were marked, and during the physical control, several cartons of cigarettes with a Bulgarian banderol were found among the plastic goods described in the transport documents. The tobacco products found were of six different brands with a total quantity of 69,140 pieces or 3,457 boxes. Since the cigarettes were not accompanied by the required documents under the Excise Act, an act of administrative violation was drawn up for the case.
Days earlier – on 24.08.2022, in the area of the Danube Bridge – Ruse border crossing during a thorough inspection of a car traveling from Bulgaria to Belgium, customs inspectors found in the side walls of the car 11,740 pieces (587 packs) of cigarettes with valid Bulgarian excise label. A simplified accompanying document was not provided for the tobacco products, and the violator – the owner of the car – was issued an act of administrative violation under Art. 112a, para. 4 of the Act on excise duties and tax warehouses.
Again last week, during two inspections of private addresses in the Lovech region, the customs officers of TD Mitnitsa Ruse detained a total of 27 polyethylene bags with finely cut tobacco-smelling leaf mass with a total weight of 6,200 grams without a valid Bulgarian excise label.
Work on the cases continues.
