A 43-year-old man from Harmanli was detained for helping foreigners to stay in the country, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Haskovo announced.
His arrest took place as a result of pre-trial proceedings from 2 days ago, when 7 men identifying themselves as Syrians, without identity documents, were arrested in the City of Belonogata. Then they admitted that they were transported from the border by a man in a Volkswagen jeep to a villa in the “Old Vineyards” area. The police had established the identity of the 31-year-old who had provided them with the house for shelter, and the driver of the jeep, an old acquaintance of the police, was detained yesterday. Work on the initiated pre-trial proceedings continues.
Six more men, identifying themselves as Afghans, were captured this night at 3 o’clock in the area of Zlato Pole village in Dimitrovgrad in the direction of Simeonovgrad. They were also without documents certifying their legal entry into the country. The men, under the age of 20, have been detained at the Dimitrovgrad Regional Office for clarification of the case.
