Shortly before the end of summer, Bulgarians decide how they will heat themselves in winter. In this year, the prices of all energy sources are moving up and the choice is difficult.
But what do the experts say?
“A few days ago, I got acquainted with an analysis prepared by energy experts, according to which heating is the cheapest. This is also shown by the accounts of Toplofikatsia Ruse. If we take as a basis the average consumption last year, it turns out that for a two-room apartment central heating costs between BGN 150 and 200 with the new prices. The range depends on the city, as the price of each heating system is different,” said engineer Sevdalin Zhelev.
According to the analysis, electricity heating for a two-room apartment would cost about BGN 225 per month, and gas more than twice as much – a shocking BGN 500 for just 1 month.
“It is a fact that this year all methods of heating are more expensive, but the increase in the price of heating in different cities is on average between 1% and 20%, while wood has increased in price by 150%, natural gas from August 2021 to August 2022 has increased in price by over 430%. Not to mention the pellets, which are BGN 600 per ton! Can you imagine that the pellet heating season in a small house costs BGN 5,000-6,000! There are few Bulgarians who can spend such an amount for heating. Not to say that almost all of us go into the “energy poor” column,” said engineer Sevdalin Zhelev.
In Europe, it is accepted that those households that spend more than 10% of their income on heating are energy poor.
Eng. Zhelev said that despite the increase in heat energy prices, more and more citizens want to switch to central heating.
