This is the second warehouse in the Tobacco City that an excavator entered after a fire. A week ago, the demolition of the warehouse at 51 Hristo Botev Street began.

Earlier in the day, the Specialized Expert Council for the Protection of Immovable Cultural Heritage decided to save this warehouse and granted it the status of a single cultural monument of local importance. Representatives of the owner company Capital Holding Group tried to delay the procedure. In addition, two objections were received from the company – in the National Institute of Civil Engineering and the Ministry of Culture.

At today’s meeting of the expert council, the investors stated that 50 percent of the building had already been demolished. However, the facades of the warehouse have been preserved. That is the reason for making the final decision. The signature of the Minister of Culture is needed to finalize the procedure. Until then, any activities on the building are prohibited.

In the meantime, the experts decided, in accordance with the order of the ZUT, that a project for strengthening the facades of the warehouse should be entered into the municipality.
