Veliko Tarnovo will mark 137 years since the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia – September 6.

The official celebration begins at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Municipality building, where the national flag will be raised. A celebratory speech will be delivered, and the students of Vasil Drumev Secondary School Sofia Rasheva and Darin Vladimirov will perform the literary composition “Bulgaria, they died for you!”.

At 11 a.m., a military ritual of laying wreaths and flowers will be held in front of the “Mother Bulgaria” monument. A holiday blessing will be officiated. The honor guard of the “Vasil Levski” National Military University will go on a solemn march.

In honor of the Unification, at exactly 12 o’clock on the 6th of September, the bells of Tsarevets and all the churches will ring the old capital city.

The festive program will end with the screening of the audio-visual show “Tsarevgrad Tarnov – sound and light”, which will be broadcast at 9:00 p.m. and will be viewable from Tsar Asen I Square.

The organizers are the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo, Vasil Levski National Military University and the Holy Metropolis of Veliko Tarnovo.

The celebration of the significant event in the history of the Bulgarian people necessitates a temporary organization of the movement in Veliko Tarnovo on September 6. In connection with the events in front of the Municipality and at the “Mother Bulgaria” monument, the main street “Vasil Levski” will be closed from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. For the screening of the Tsarevets spectacle, from 8:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m., “Tsar Asen I” Square and the adjacent streets will be closed to traffic.
