Acting Foreign Minister Nikolay Milkov will head the delegation to participate in the UN General Assembly instead of President Rumen Radev. The head of state will not participate due to “impossibility,” according to a transcript of the regular government meeting of August 26, published today. According to her, Milkov himself reported on the reasons why he took over the leadership of the delegation at the forum.
The General Assembly session begins in New York on September 13, and the main political debate will be between September 20 and 26.
The main topics of the UN General Assembly this year will be related to the search for solutions related to the current global crises – the recovery after COVID-19, the war in Ukraine and the global food crisis caused by Russian aggression, the threats to the global economy and already irreversible climate problems. This was explained by Minister Milkov to the government.
Bulgaria will be represented by a 77-member delegation. Traditionally, at the general meetings of the UN, Bulgaria also holds meetings with important countries that could be of benefit to our country, the foreign minister recalls.
