The Specialized Council for Immovable Cultural Assets under the Minister of Culture granted the status of single immovable cultural assets of local importance to three warehouses in the Tobacco City. There is an amount for Daniel Shaki’s warehouses on “G. M. Dimitrov” 29 – property of “Galaxy Group”, of “Orient Tabaco” at 8 “Odrin” Street – of Nikola Branekov and Alexander Nikolic and the Dutch Anonymous Joint Stock Company at 13 “Odrin” Street. For the “Nikotea” building ” and the Austro-Bulgarian Tobacco Company at 57 “Hristo Botev” Blvd. of the Moravenov family, the status of immovable cultural value is “for information”.
The proposal was submitted as a matter of urgency for consideration in the SESONCC because of what has been happening in Plovdiv in recent days.
“I propose to look at the documentation of four warehouses in the Tobacco City in Plovdiv, as my notification under the APC to the Municipality of Plovdiv triggers a series of the same actions related to demolition. I believe that the procedure has started with this announcement, and regardless of the fact that the Ministry of Culture has not notified the owners that the building in question will be considered by the Council, and since no objections have been received, I believe that it is legitimate to include these objects in the agenda.” , announced the director of the National Academy of Sciences arch. Peter Petrov.
The building at 29 G.M. Dimitrov Street was demolished yesterday and today, but during the meeting corrections were made in the form and it was added that the owners undertake to rebuild the warehouse according to authentic data.
The building at 8 “Odrin” street also has the status of an artistic monument because of the wall painting by Valchan Petrov, which decorates an impressive part of the first floor.
The entire composition of SESONCC voted unanimously when considering the four objects, and the opinions were summarized by Prof. Anelia Bozhkova: “There is hardly any need for a discussion, we must do everything in our power to protect these buildings. And then let the bodies of justice take over.”
The proposal of the Council is to be approved with the signature of the Minister of Culture and published in the State Gazette. Owners can also challenge the deed.
