The co-chairman of “We continue the change” (PP) Kiril Petkov decided to make a pre-election video from Montana, but with what he said, he only played with the fears of Montanans – the “Ogosta” dam.
The reason – according to Petkov, the reservoir is among the 30 most dangerous in our country. But not only that – he also talked about a disaster like Karlovsko, which could befall Montana.
Here is what Petkov writes:
“Ogosta Dam is among the 30 most dangerous dams in our country.” In 2018, GERB allocated BGN 500 million uncontrolled for dam repairs through DCK. Of these renovations, only ten were completed, and without building permits.
No one in the Ministry of Economy for 3 years had exercised control over the people who were entrusted with spending the 500 million BGN. There was no prioritization of risk.
We took the first steps – we assessed all the dams in Bulgaria according to the level of risk. We’ve made it a point to have the highest risk ones repaired first. We must do everything possible to avoid disasters like the one of the last days.
But that doesn’t happen after the tragedy happens. This is done by working and stopping theft.
We will finish our work after October 2nd!
And we suggest that Mr. Borisov come here when he retires, because it’s a wonderful place to spend his old days.”
