A few days before the start of the school year, Kaufland Bulgaria participates in the traditional “Hot Lunch” donation program, through which food is provided for disadvantaged students. Customers of hypermarkets throughout the country have the opportunity to get involved with personal donations, using the donation boxes specially designated in the stores for this purpose. The campaign is implemented by the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC), and for the last 13 years, in which the retail leader has supported the program, more than BGN 500,000 have been collected.
“Hot Lunch” started on September 5th and will run until October 5th. With the funds raised during the upcoming school year, the Bulgarian Red Cross will provide free hot meals for children in disadvantaged situations – orphans, half-orphans, from large families or with permanently unemployed parents. For a large number of children from vulnerable groups, the provision of a hot lunch is a significant measure against dropping out of school. Since the start of the program, 1,554,356 free hot lunches have been provided to needy school-going children. Nearly 20,500 underprivileged children received a hot meal during the school year thanks to the charity funds raised.
For the second year in a row, Kaufland Bulgaria is a partner of the Rivers of Sofia festival, which is organized this Saturday and Sunday by Collective…
Kaufland Bulgaria is among the long-standing partners of BCHK. “Hot Lunch” is one of the organization’s most sustainable programs, which has been running for 19 consecutive years.
