The hospital had no money, 500,000 BGN per month was needed for the salary increase
The salaries of the medics at UMBAL-Burgas will not increase for the time being, as provided for in the annex to the National Framework Agreement signed by the NHIF and the Medical Association. This became clear after a meeting of the trade unions with the management of the medical facility. The funds were to come from the increased values of clinical pathways – by an average of 25%.
“We, as trade unions, remained in the position that the annex should be implemented, according to which nurses’ salaries would become BGN 1,500, doctors’ salaries – BGN 2,000. The management of the hospital said that it does not have the financial resources to achieve this“said Dr. Vasil Keranov from CT Podkrepa, quoted by BNR Burgas.
“There is a financial hole of about 30%, which in numerical terms, especially for our hospital, is about half a million per month. All unprofitable activities, all unprofitable patients are at the expense of the state hospital,” added Dr. Keranov.
The unions believe that the state has abdicated in relation to the district hospitals. The Ministry of Health told the hospital that it was a commercial enterprise and needed to turn a profit in order to have money for salary increases.
