Why do they decide to help the victims?
Ukrainian refugees from Plovdiv help the flood victims in Karlovsko. Natalia Ellis says that a few days ago she had a conversation with an acquaintance from Karavelovo, who in March of this year helped her with medicines for Ukraine. Then she decides that the favor must be returned.
Natalia has been in Bulgaria for seven years. She and her compatriots from Ukraine have decided to help on the spot in the flooded village. “In March, when we were collecting aid, the whole of Karavelovo responded to our cause. They helped with medication and collecting money for a medicine that is very important for women in the country. Now is the time to return the gesture. We will always help,” she said.
The woman has already visited Karavelovo after the flood to bring food. And he summarized the situation from the settlement: “The tragedy is great. Trees from the forest have come to the village and destroyed many houses. There is almost 1.5 meters of sand in every yard,” Natalia added.
She commented on an often shared post on social networks – whether the victims of the flood will be accommodated in a hotel and whether there will be BGN 40 for them each, the kind of aid that was given to Ukrainian refugees after the war.
“People who really help never write things like that. Those who write – do not give a single penny to Ukrainians, Bulgarians, Roma, or Syrians. This is only a division of the society”, Natalya is categorical.
