The match of the group stage of the Champions League between the teams of Glasgow Rangers (Scotland) and the Italian Napoli due to police commitments related to the funeral of the deceased British Queen Elizabeth II.

This is Rangers’ first home game in the Champions League after a 12-year wait. Thus, the match will be played on September 14th (Wednesday), and not on the 13th, as per UEFA’s preliminary schedule.

Due to some resource constraints faced by the police these days, as well as the organization of events accompanying the pilgrimage and funeral of Her Majesty Elizabeth II, the match has been rescheduled 24 hours later“said an official statement from the Glasgow club.

Rangers of course recognize that the change of date may cause inconvenience to our loyal supporters. A refund will be given to those of our fans who are unable to attend the match.“, the press release also says.

No fans of Napoli will travel to Glasgow, the host club of the meeting also announced, quoted by BTA. They have informed UEFA of the decision not to admit Italians and also agree that their fans will not travel to the second leg in Italy.

Elizabeth II died on September 8 at the age of 96. From the 9th of this month, 10 days of mourning have been announced in Great Britain.
