Asen Vassilev in Haskovo: The investment in people must continue

“The investment in people must continue in our country, and we should not return to the lean pizzas that we have been eating for too long,” the co-chairman of “Continuing the change” and leader of the parliamentary candidate list in Haskovo, Asen Vassilev, is emphatic. Together with the other candidates for the 48th National Assembly from the 29th MIR-Haskovo, Asen Vassilev is in the region for a meeting with the citizens.

In the afternoon in Kenana Park, the candidates for people’s representatives were welcomed by Haskovians.

The former finance minister indicated that the main priority of “We continue the change” on a national scale is to complete the work started during the administration in their previous term, especially in the social sphere and the fight against corruption.

“Pensions have risen significantly, kindergartens have become free, we have given tax breaks for young families. The salaries of doctors and teachers, people in the Ministry of Internal Affairs system, including firefighters and the military, have increased. All this is an investment in the people of Bulgaria,” Asen Vasilev emphasized and added: “What we want to continue next year with the new budget is to raise the minimum wage so that the average becomes between BGN 850-900.”

Raising pensions ahead of inflation and investment, especially in benefits for young families, and in the social sphere, are the other priority areas on which the “Continuing Change” will bet if they are again the first political and governing force.

Among the priorities of “We continue the change” is the anti-corruption topic.

“We managed to pass legislation for the European Public Prosecutor’s Office to become independent in Bulgaria and start working. There is already a conviction in Plovdiv”, recalled Asen Vassilev. He is adamant that this must continue.

“We tried to finish the process of the anti-corruption commission with Rashkov, it didn’t work, but we hope that in the new parliament this process will be brought to a successful end and finally people will see justice”, the leader of the “We continue the drinking water” also emphasized . As a positive development in this direction, however, he pointed to the recent unification of the plumbing companies of Haskovo and Dimitrovgrad, which gives opportunities to receive funds from the “Bulgarian Plumbing Holding” and European programs.

“This investment process begins so that Haskovo will finally have normal drinking water,” commented Asen Vassilev. He pointed out that both on a national scale and for the region of Haskovo, he and his like-minded people are working hard to attract investments.

“This year, our country recorded the highest growth in investments for the first six months, including foreign investments. There is interest in Haskovo for investments in the field of production and tourism. There are new companies willing to invest here and that can raise the standard of living and have more and better jobs,” he pointed out.

In the regional list of “We continue the change”, experience and youth give each other a hand, and this is because the lesson learned in recent months is that only youth and enthusiasm do not work, there must also be people with white hair, Asen Vassilev admitted.

“That’s why we gather around us people with experience and who can help in the process of change. And this is our main message now: let the adults and the youth start looking in the same direction and work together, then things will take off,” he pointed out.

Not to give up on finishing what they started, the “Change” candidates advised people at the city meetings, Asen Vassilev said: “Their expectations are that the course we took towards a more social program with a social budget will continue. The other thing they tell us is to finish our work so that Bulgaria becomes a better place for all of us to live”.

As the main topic for the district, Asen Vassilev brought up the problems with drinking water. As a positive development in this direction, however, he pointed to the recent unification of the plumbing companies of Haskovo and Dimitrovgrad, which gives opportunities to receive funds from the “Bulgarian Plumbing Holding” and European programs.

Atanas Atanasov, the third candidate on the parliamentary candidate list for Haskovo, who was also the Minister of Culture in Kiril Petkov’s Cabinet, defined the decentralization of culture as a successfully accomplished mission – that everything does not happen in Sofia and Plovdiv. “We managed to complete decentralization and a large part of the funds were also directed to the smaller regions of the country, including Haskovski”, pointed out Atanas Atanasov.
