12 competitors will represent Bulgaria at the Balkan Gymnastics Championship, which will be held from September 16 to 18 in the Turkish city of Istanbul.

Athletes from 9 countries applied for participation in the competition in three age groups – 12-13 years, 14-15 years and 16-17 years for the young men and 10-11 years, 12-13 years and 14-15 years for the girls. .

The format of the competition envisages two gymnasts competing in each age group, with the three highest marks being taken for the team ranking.

The delegation is led by the president of the Bulgarian Gymnastics Federation, the Olympic champion on the beam from the Atlanta Games, Krasimir Dunev, and the Olympic vice-champion on rings from the Athens Games, Yordan Yovchev, who will be the team’s manager.

The coaching team includes women’s mentors Velislava Veleva, Kaloyana Krumova-Tsoncheva and Nedyalko Iliev and men’s mentors Milko Tankushev, Delyan Dimitrov and Radoslav Emilov

The judges from the Bulgarian side will be Maria Stoilova and Neli Tankusheva for the women and Zdravko Kurtev and Alexander Markov for the men.
