Mayor Stefan Radev presented an honorary plaque for his contribution to the development of public life in Sliven and on the occasion of 110 years of the Third Bulgarian Army to Colonel-General Tsvetan Totomirov. He was the commander of the Third Army in the period 1991-1993.
“I am proud that Sliven was part of the Third Army, that the first commander was from our region – General Radko Dimitriev, who is from Gradec. I am proud of the fact that in 1951 Sliven became the headquarters of the Third Bulgarian Army and the development of our city was strongly connected with the development of the army during those years. I strongly hope that the glory and greatness of the Bulgarian army will return again. It is one of the first institutions established after Liberation in Bulgaria and has always symbolized statehood and guaranteed the territorial integrity and independence of the country. Huge honor and respect to all worthy men and women who connected their lives with the army and defend the interests of the state and its territorial integrity!” said Mayor Stefan Radev.
