A national livestock exhibition will be held in Sliven

Over 550 elite Bulgarian animals will participate in the 16th edition of The National Livestock Exhibition. It will be held on 16 and 17 September 2022 and will be the host of the event city ​​of Sliven, on the exhibition grounds next to the junction for the village of Mechkarevo. The organizer is the Executive Agency for Selection and Reproduction in Livestock Breeding and the Ministry of Agriculture, with the support of the State Fund “Agriculture”.

The exhibition will be officially opened on September 17 by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Yavor Gechev, and the Executive Director of IASRG, Mr. Georgi Yordanov.

Animals will be the most numerous, which represent sheep and goat breeding – 400 from 38 breeds. Cattle farming will be represented with over 120 animals from dairy, beef and native breeds. Buffaloes of the “Bulgarian Murrah” breed will also take a prestigious part.

Interest for visitors will also represent the class selections in horse breedingwhich will be represented by 8 breeds of horses: Eastern Bulgarian horse, Danube horse, Pleven horse, Haflinger, Rysista breed, Thoroughbred English breed, Arabian Shagia and the remarkable Akhal-Teke.

Visitors to the exhibition in Sliven will also be able to see the breed of sheep from whose milk the famous Roquefort – Lacon cheese is produced. Only the Lacon breed can create the world-famous blue-veined delicacy.

Visitors to the exhibition will learn how it is prepared why Italians adore the green cheese from Teteven village Black Vit. It was presented at the World Cheese Exhibition in the city of Bra in 2007 and impresses chefs and consumers with its rich, dense taste and aroma of a soft core covered with a greenish mold cover.

There will be more demonstrations of the Bulgarian shepherd dog breeda folklore program, presentations and tastings, numerous entertainments for young and old, and a large farmer’s bazaar, which await visitors on September 16 and 17 in Sliven – at the exhibition grounds next to the junction for the village of Mechkarevo.
