And the repair in front of the National Assembly will be included in the failures of Yordanka Fandakova – it seems that the yellow paving stones will be more crooked after the rearrangement, it is clear from photos published on “Facebook” by “Save Sofia”.
“This is what the yellow cobblestones in front of the National Assembly look like after the BGN 24 million renovation. Crooked joints, chipped, broken and uncleaned cobblestones and chambers of sand – this is what the most central square of Sofia will look like. The worst thing is that the few remaining yellow cobblestones are cut so that the builders can fill in the inadequate joints and thus the repair of the historical pavement actually destroys it,” wrote the organization led by Boris Bonev.
The yellow pavers are cultural heritage and their destruction should attract the attention of the National Institute for Immovable Cultural Heritage. Leaving chambers with sand after every repair is a practice in already dusty and dirty Sofia.
The reconstruction in front of the parliament is part of the global reconstruction of Zone 4 of the Sofia center, which also includes the square around the Alexander Nevsky temple-monument. The construction is carried out by a well-known company – “Trace Group”. The total budget for the renovation of Zone 4 is BGN 14.2 million excluding VAT.
