September 15 presented an unpleasant surprise for drivers entering Plovdiv from the east. The reason is the repair of the road I-8 Plovdiv – Svilengrad, which was supposed to end today and traffic to be restored. The deadline has not been met, and the API has not specified a new date for the opening of the road, a reporter reported Plovdiv24.bg.
The repair of the section from the “Skobeleva Maika” road interchange in Plovdiv to the intersection for Sadovo began on August 9 and was supposed to be completed by September 15. During this time, drivers were diverted via a detour route.
API responded as follows to our inquiry:
“The repair of an 11-kilometer section of the I-8 Plovdiv – Svilengrad road in the section from the “Skobeleva Maika” road junction in Plovdiv to the intersection for Sadovo continues.
Today – September 15, the laying of the main layer of asphalt concrete (binder) will be completed, after which employees of the Institute of Roads and Bridges will make measurements for the flatness of the asphalt layer. It is planned to start laying the dense wearing asphalt layer on Monday – September 19. Then the horizontal marking will be laid. The road maintenance company is working hard to complete the site as soon as possible.
The Road Infrastructure Agency apologizes to drivers for the inconvenience caused during travel, but the actions taken are imperative to ensure safe passage along the sections.”
