The twelve schools and seven kindergartens in the municipality of Pomorie were once again filled with joy and excitement. The new school year 2022/2023 started for a total of 2,937 children, of which 259 are first graders and 951 are kindergarten graduates.

The mayors of the respective settlements, the deputy mayors of the Municipality of Pomorie or employees from the Directorate of “Humanitarian Activities” attended the celebration of each educational institution. Mayor Ivan Alexiev shared the first day of school with the students from “Ivan Vazov” Secondary School and “Hristo Botev” Elementary School – Pomorie, as well as with the little miscreants from “Detelina” Elementary School. The celebrations were also attended by the chairman of the Pomorie Municipal Council Adam Adamov, the deputy regional governor Plamen Yanev, municipal councilors and members of the public.

The holiday in educational institutions began with the raising of the national flag to the sounds of the national anthem. The children, with the help of their teachers, had prepared a varied program of songs, poems and dances, and as a wish for health and success, a water festival was held in most places. This year, the schoolyards were not filled with so many flowers, but they were filled with a lot of kindness, because everyone, including and kindergartens, joined the charity initiative aimed at the flood victims of the Bulgarian villages of Karavelovo, Bogdan and Slatina. Instead of bouquets, the teachers called for the funds to go to help those most in need at the moment.

Mayor Ivan Alexiev congratulated those present at the educational institutions and shared his joy at the fact that in Pomorie municipality students are not only educated, but also develop their virtues: “We all bear a great responsibility, because we must support our children, give personal example and to believe in them. This is the only way they will become good people that our city and our wonderful country can be proud of.

September 15 is a very special day for the whole of Bulgaria, but today for Pomorie, the day is even more special and important, because after a lot of work and effort, we already have a second 8th grade class. I want to thank the Regional Department of Education – Burgas and personally the head Petya Petrova, as well as the director of SU “Ivan Vazov” Petya Kazakova and the entire teaching team for the diligence and unceasing work with which we achieved this success. But most of all, I thank you, the parents, for believing in us and enrolling your children here.”

The Chairman of the Municipal Council – Pomorie Adam Adamov also congratulated all those present, wishing them a fruitful year. Welcoming words were also read by the regional governor of Burgas, prof. Maria Neykova.

As every year, this time the mayor Ivan Alexiev presented all the first graders with richly illustrated books with Bulgarian poems and a personal message.
